Argan Oil has been used for hair and skin for centuries. The reason? It’s rich in essential fatty acids, vitamin E and anti-oxidants. That makes Argan Oil a hair treatment that delivers softer, shinier hair. Are you looking for conditioner, styling protection, shiny hair or a product that will nourish the scalp? Look no further. Argan Oil delivers all this and more. That’s why it’s a favourite in my mission to condition hair.
Firstly it smoothes and seals split ends.
Secondly Argan Oil adds moisture and shine helping to repair the damage and stopping frizz.
In celebration of this hair treatment, let’s talk about the benefits of the oil known as ‘liquid gold’.
Argan Oil Benefits for Hair and Scalp
Argan Oil is a natural conditioner. Here’s why…
- It gets moisture to the inner layer of the hair, the cortex
- It smoothes the outer layer of the hair, the cuticle.
Because it’s rich in tocopherols, otherwise known as vitamin E, argan oil conditions hair adding moisture and smoothing the cuticle. Consequently, it makes the hair more manageable, and it’s an effective leave in conditioner.
Include Argan Oil in your hairstyling routine as it can offer protection against heated styling. Overdoing the heated styling can take its toll on hair. I’m obsessive about maintaining the health of hair. That’s why it was essential to include argan oil in my styling range. Argan oil is an effective heat protector, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to be careful. When styling hair, always choose a cooler setting on the hairdryer and take care not to over-dry the hair.
With lots of fatty acids, Argan Oil is effective for detangling hair. That’s particularly true if you have thick, coarse or curly hair. Use a good quality detangler containing Argan Oil after washing and conditioner hair to get it prepped for styling.
Tame Frizzy Hair
Hair becomes frizzy when it’s dry. If you find your hair becomes more prone to frizz in the rain or humid environments, there’s a reason. When the atmosphere is humid or damp, dry hair will attempt to soak up the moisture. As a result, it exacerbates the frizz. The solution to frizzy hair is prevention. Argan Oil is rich in fatty acids, and one acid in particular (oleic acid) helps to reduce the water loss in hair. By reducing water loss in your hair, you can prevent frizz.
One of the many nutrients in Argan Oil, another fatty acid, is linoleic acid. Linoleic acid moisturises the scalp and helps to maintain scalp health. I believe in giving the scalp a lot of love when it comes to promoting hair growth. Having worked with many different styling products over the years in our salon, I found that regular use of some styling products could be drying for the scalp. That’s why I set myself the challenge of developing a formulation that would moisturise the scalp. The argan oil in my styling range helps prevent dry scalp whilst keeping the hair looking and feeling healthy.
Many environmental factors can cause hair breakage from sun and wind to excessive heated styling or simply not being gentle enough with the hair. Split ends can be frustrating, and the only way to get rid of them permanently is to get a trim. Getting regular trims is an essential part of maintaining a healthy head of hair. However, you may find that the ends are splitting further up the hair to the mid-lengths. Argan Oil to the rescue! Argan Oil is so great at smoothing the hair it can temporarily seal split ends. If you are concerned about split ends or hair damage, in general, take a look at my blog, How to Repair Damaged Hair.
With its ability to add moisture to the hair and smooth the cuticle, Argan Oil naturally strengthens hair. For instance, when the hair has moisture, it’s more flexible and stretchy, making it less prone to breakage. There are some tell-tale signs that hair is not as strong as it could be. Maybe your hair feels difficult to style. Or maybe, it has a rough texture and has lost its shine. Treating your hair to products containing Argan Oil can help.
How to apply Argan Oil to Your Hair
So now you know about the benefits of argan oil, you may be wondering how to apply it to your hair. When it comes to hair products, I believe that the application of the product is just as important as the quality of the product. Overloading your hair with any products can leave your hair looking limp. I like our products to be invisible in your hair. For me, the perfect product and the perfect application is when the hair looks and feels fab-u-lous, but there’s no sign of any product residue.
Argan Oil in Hair Products
My preferred method for applying oils to hair is to include them in products. Why? Because this is the best way of avoiding residue. Whether in shampoos, conditioners, treatments or styling products, I believe that blending Argan Oil in a product is the best way of applying this nutrient-rich oil to the hair. Choose a product such as Argan Oil and Keratin styling mist for split ends formulated to deliver specific benefits to the hair.
This enhances the performance of Argan Oil in a couple of ways.
- You can augment the performance by partnering it with other ingredients. For example, the Argan Oil in my styling range is held in a bubble of keratin. This keratin bubble is essential because it’s the same protein as hair. So, when the tiny keratin capsules land on the hair and release the Argan Oil, this combination seals split ends. Plus, it leaves hair smooth and shiny. Not to mention it keeps on working in between washes. Want to know the most clever thing about these capsules? They go to where the hair is most damaged.
- It’s very easy to overuse oils, and too much product can make the scalp and roots oily. It can also be tricky to get an even spread of oil in the hair. If you’ve tried applying oils and you’ve found your hair gets dirty, there’s a reason. Putting oil directly on the hair can attract dirt. Our advice? Look out for products that contain argan oil with a formulation that targets your hair’s needs. For instance, adding volume or moisture. You can get the benefits of Argan Oil whilst choosing an easy application.
The Beauty Bible tested my styling products, and they understood what I was aiming for with natural movement.
Here’s what they said about Styling Mist for Volume.
“We are never, ever short of recommendations for luscious 100% pure hair masks. There are more and more excellent natural shampoos around, too. But natural styling options? Rarer than hen’s teeth. Hats off, then, to Ogario London* for this lightweight styling mist, which makes for increased hold and volume while making your hair smell fresh, citrusy and downright gorgeous. (It’s infused with lemon zest.)
Other ingredients include antioxidant vitamin E, strengthening pro-vitamin B5, oats (for hydration and strength) and honey (not sticky, by the way, but just a touch to prevent static).
The result? Shiny, swingy hair that holds its shape. And while this formula may never rival the industrial strength styling aids from mainstream haircare brands, it’s going to make for very happy hair days for natural beauties.”
* Ogario’s hair masks are hugely popular with Beauty Bible testers. And with us.

Here’s what Josephine Fairley and Sarah Stacey had to say,
“Beauty Bible fell in love with this mask when we discovered it at a Cosmetic Executive Women product demo evening. The brand comes from a London hair salon, and the mask is a huge boon for hair – packed with avocado, olive oil, aloe vera, nettle and horsetail, together with sage (which is rich in vitamins A, C and E). Just a sniff of this rich, unctuous creamy mask perks you up. Use for gleaming shiny, healthy hair.”
