You can add volume to hair naturally and in an instant. In fact, we believe that the simplest of changes can make the biggest impact. For example, no volume ever came from parting the hair in the middle, particularly fine hair. So, if you are looking for a quick and easy solution to adding volume to your hair naturally maybe it’s time to rethink your parting.
Add Volume to Hair Naturally with a Deep-Angled Parting
The deep-angled parting is as simple a technique as you can get for adding volume to hair. You can try this out on dry hair, simply by creating a deep-angled parting on one side of the head, flip the hair over and do a little bit of gentle back-combing at the roots to the hold the parting in place. Alternatively, you can style the deep-angled parting on freshly washed hair to give it a better fix and finish.
3 Easy Steps for Instant Volume.
Step 1 Prep the Hair
Shampoo, condition, rinse and towel out excess water from hair. At this point, the hair should be damp but not dripping. When hair is damp, you can apply a volumising styling product to give your hair body and hold. Choosing the right styling products is key for this look. You want to maintain some movement in the hair but still have some natural hold. For our model, we used the Styling Mist for Natural Hold and Volume. This is ideal for fine hair as it has a very fine mist and gives hair good volume without weighing it down. So, choosing a lightweight styling product like the styling mist is the key to getting the finished look just right.
Step 2 Part the Hair
Once you’ve prepped the hair, you can blow-dry it as normal. This is a crucial point in the styling process. That’s because, and this is easily done, most of us overdo it with the hairdryer. When we dry the hair for too long the excess heat causes it to become dry and it loses elasticity. Have you ever been frustrated that your hair won’t hold a style or it becomes fly-away? If the answer is yes, it’s time to reduce the time spent under the hairdryer.
As soon as the hair is dry, STOP. It should still feel pretty flexible. At this point, you can get busy with a comb to create a deep-angled parting on one side of the hair. What this does is create lift and the deeper the angle, the more height and lift you can achieve. Our model has fine hair so we went the deepest angle possible to bring the hair right over to create body and height.
Step 3 Lift the Hair
Ok, your hair is prepped and your parting is at the ready. Now it’s time to seal the deal. Once you’ve got your parting in place you can use a round brush and take the section of the hair where you want to create lift. Then, you simply place the brush at the end of the hair and roll it down to roots. Blast the root area with the hairdryer for a few seconds, leave to cool and gently remove the brush.
A quick blast of heat and then allowing the hair to cool is a simple technique to set hair in place. You can blast it with cool air rather than waiting for it to cool but we say, why waste the energy? It’s just as easy to wait for it to cool. Our philosophy is to keep styling light touch and not to touch the hair too much. This gives a much better finish.

Moisture Matters when it comes to Adding Volume to Hair
Keeping hair well hydrated is absolutely critical to adding body and volume to hair. Here’s why. It’s a good strategy to think about your hair in the same way as your skin. When skin is hydrated, it looks plump and fresh, when it’s dehydrated, it looks sunken and sallow. It’s the same for hair. If you want to add volume to hair naturally, you have to keep it hydrated.
