Frizzy Hair Products Treatment

How to Stop Frizzy Hair | Expert Tips

Frizzy hair is often associated with curly hair, but any hair type can become frizzy. Based on over 35 years of salon experience, I’ve developed a deep conditioning treatment exclusively formulated to tackle dry, frizzy hair.

My mantra when it comes to hair is to keep it simple. I believe in taking a simple approach for maximum impact.

What hair needs at the most fundamental level is moisture. Moisture is the foundation of a good hair care routine.

If you’ve ever battled with a halo of frizz or your hair never looks glossy or shiny, it’s time to get serious about adding moisture.

In this blog I’ll share my advice on preventing and getting rid of frizzy hair.

How to Get Rid of Frizzy Hair | Overview

Thick Curly Hair Blonde

I know from experience that where there is a hair problem, such as how to smooth or tame frizzy hair, there is always a solution.

This blog is about taking the frizz out of your hair. I’ll cover how to stop or get rid of frizzy hair in 7 simple steps.

I’ll tackle common questions about dry, frizzy hair: How can I stop frizzy hair after washing?, How can I tame Frizzy Hair Overnight? or What are the Best Fizzy Hair Products?

How to Get Rid of Frizzy Hair | 7 Tips for Frizz-Free Hair

Thick Curly Hair Layers

Frizz occurs when the hair is dry or damaged. Dry hair is prone to breakage, leaving it vulnerable to moisture loss. The hair compensates for moisture loss by soaking up moisture from humid environments, and frizz occurs.

By ensuring the hair is balanced and has sufficient moisture, you can stop frizzy hair and prevent it from reoccurring.

I developed Restore and Shine Hair Masque to perfectly balance the hair’s moisture and seal the cuticle (the hair’s outer layer) to lock in that moisture.

My exclusive formula blends pro vitamin b5, glycerin and avocado oil to treat frizzy hair. Put it at the heart of your haircare routine, using it weekly to treat frizz hair and prevent its return.

Follow my 7 steps to beat the frizz, lock in moisture, and reduce damage and dryness to take control of your hair.

1. Deep Condition Frizzy Hair Weekly

Deep conditioning every week is essential if you want to stop frizzy hair. Think about your hair in the same way as your skin. Would you add moisture to your skin as a one-off and then wait for it to dry out? Just like skin, hair needs a routine to maintain moisture. A weekly deep condition with Restore and Shine hair Masque will add moisture to the hair and seal the cuticle to keep moisture locked in for longer.

2. Keep it Cool

Identify opportunities to reduce damage to your hair. Switching the hairdryer to a cold setting is one way of reducing heat damage.

You can also try drying your hair for less time; over-drying the hair is easy to do. There’s a sweet spot when drying hair with a hairdryer. It’s the point where the hair is dry to the touch; that’s the point that you should put the hairdryer down and let your hair settle.

Establish the drying sweet spot for your hair. Time how long it takes to dry your hair with a hairdryer, and then try reducing it by 30 seconds or 1 minute. Experiment to see how your hair responds if you reduce the drying time further. How your hair looks and feels will tell you how long your hair takes to dry without becoming over-dry.

3. Get Regular Trims to Prevent Split Ends

Healthy Long Hair

Get regular trims to prevent split ends. Split ends increase the risk of frizz. Leave them unchecked, and they ride up the hair to cause breakage on the mid-lengths and towards the roots. That will result in further moisture loss, leaving hair dry and frizzy.

4. Touch your Hair Less

Touching hair too much is a significant cause of breakage; excessive styling or being too rough when you handle wet hair are factors in damaging hair. However, just day-to-day stuff like putting your hair into a ponytail and then bringing it back down again can cause damage. Sometimes, one might do this several times a day. Absent-minded twirling is another thing that can damage the hair. Handle your hair like it’s a piece of silk. Style it and leave it.

5. Be Gentle with your Hair

Shiny Hair

Be gentle with your hair when it’s wet. Wet hair is the most vulnerable to breakage, and when hair breaks, frizz will thrive. Use a microfibre towel to gently pat the hair dry after washing.

6. Avoid Silicones

Silicones in hair products give hair immediate shine by coating the hair. They cover the hair’s surface so successfully that long-term use can result in the hair being unable to absorb moisture from conditioners and deep conditioners. Avoid them.

7. Use Styling Products that Add Moisture

I see hair styling as an opportunity to add moisture to your hair. Not only does adding moisture when you style improve styling flexibility and hold, but it also stops frizz.

A lot of styling products deplete the hair of moisture.

My exclusive styling range adds moisture with a blend of pro vitamin b5, argan oil and keratin. Tiny bubbles of keratin and argan oil target damage to seal the hair for a smooth, glossy finish.

Stop Frizzy Hair after Washing | 4 Steps

Curly Hair Density

1. Use a Small Towel To Blot Water out of your Hair

Immediately after shampooing and rinsing your hair, and before you apply conditioner or deep conditioner, use a small microfibre towel to blot the water out of your hair. That will help hair to absorb more conditioning ingredients that smooth and seal the cuticle.

2. Treat Hair Like a Delicate Fabric.

After rinsing out conditioner or deep conditioner, gently blot the water out of your hair again. Think about your hair like a delicate fabric; rubbing hair will lead to breakage, so be gentle. If it’s easier, wrap a towel around your hair until it’s no longer wet but still damp.

3. Add Moisture when Styling

When hair is damp, it’s time to start styling your hair. Before styling, apply one of my frizzy hair sprays. Choose Volume Mist for Volume and Glossy Mist for extra shine; 2 to 3 spritzes are all you need.

4. Don't Over-Dry Your Hair.

So now hair is prepped and ready to go for styling. Check out my blog on how to blow dry hair for tips on styling your hair. The one piece of advice I have, above all else,  is don’t over-dry your hair. Over-drying hair is a common mistake and one of the biggest culprits for frizz. My styling mists help with this by speeding up drying time and adding moisture as you style. As soon as the hair feels dry to the touch, stop and leave the hair to settle.

Tame Frizzy Hair Overnight | 2 Simple Steps

Long Hair Care Tips

That is a question that comes up often, and there are a couple of things that I recommend for taming frizzy hair overnight.

1. Use a Hair Mask for Frizzy Hair Overnight

Check the instructions of the brand you are using, but if you are using Restore and Shine Hair Masque, this is what I recommend for how to tame frizzy hair overnight:

Shampoo, rinse, and gently blot out water from your hair. Apply Restore and Shine Hair Masque to the ends and mid-lengths and leave to dry. If your hair is very thick, do this early in the day, giving hair a chance to dry before bed.

Before you go to bed, wrap your hair in a silk or satin scarf (maybe not your favourite one!) and let the hair mask work its magic whilst you sleep.

In the morning, rinse your hair and style. There is no need to shampoo. Your hair should feel silky smooth. Do that once a week, and you will notice a big difference in the texture of your hair.

2. Say Goodbye to Cotton Pillows

You may well have heard that your skin benefits from sleeping on the slippery texture of a silk or satin pillow. Well, what is good for our skin is good for our hair.

When we sleep, we move around, and when the hair rubs against the rough texture of cotton, it breaks and tangles. Once you start sleeping on silk or satin pillows, you will notice your hair is easier to manage, and it reduces frizz.

How to Stop Frizzy Hair | What are the Best Products for Frizzy Hair?

Tousled Grey Hair

Moisture is your hair’s best friend in the battle against frizzy hair.

With that in mind, I’d like to share some ingredients that I love to have on my side when taming frizzy hair.

You can solve most hair problems, including frizz, by fixing the hair’s moisture levels.

My products reflect that philosophy, and I developed them to add moisture to the hair, leaving it smooth, shiny and frizz-free. That means my products all deliver frizz-free solutions.

1. Pro Vitamin B5

Pro vitamin b5 is a cornerstone ingredient for my product range. Everyone one of my products contains pro vitamin b5. Because pro vitamin b5 is small enough to penetrate the cuticle, it can get moisture right to the hair’s core.

2. Glycerin

Glycerin is the perfect partner for pro vitamin b5 as it helps the hair to retain moisture. That means  pro vitamin b5 benefits stay for longer.

3. Cetearyl Alcohol

Glycerin is the perfect partner for pro vitamin b5 as it helps the hair to retain moisture. That means  pro vitamin b5 benefits stay for longer.

This powerful trio of natural ingredients is at the frontline of fighting frizz and, you’ll find pro vitamin b5 in every one of my products, working hard to add moisture to the hair.

Get Rid of Frizzy Hair | Take Aways

In this blog, my aim was to give you some insight into the best frizzy hair solutions. I also wanted to demonstrate that simplicity is key when it comes to dealing with frizz.

With the right approach, you can be frizz-free and put a stop to frizzy hair for good.

I’ve summarised the key points below.

1. Hair Care Routine

Establish an anti-frizz hair care routine with deep conditioning at it’s heart.

2. Reduce Damage from Styling and Treatments

Keep styling simple. Use my moisture-boosting styling spray to reduce styling time and frizz.

3. Keep Split Ends in Check

Get regular trims to prevent split ends riding up the hair and damaging the cuticle, leaving the hair open to frizz.

4. Frizzy Hair Products

Choose treatments and products containing moisture-boosting ingredients such as pro vitamin b5.

5. Be Gentle with your Hair

Be gentle with your hair when it’s wet. Wet hair is vulnerable to breakage, and when hair breaks, frizz will thrive.

6. Use a Frizzy Hair Treatment once a week

Use Restore and Shine Hair Masque once a week for a deep conditioning, frizzy hair treatment.

I’ve found that frizzy hair solutions have always been a hot topic in hairdressing, and I’m delighted to offer a solution to a real hair problem with my haircare range.
